Welcome to our world of discovery and learning!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

Español con las Lechuzas y los Búhos: Presiona Aquí

¡Bienvenidos familia, amigas, y amigos! Welcome! ¡Feliz Año Nuevo! Happy New Year! The Lechuzas and the Búhos have begun the New Year by learning the vocabulary words to one of their favorite books, Press Here by Herve Tullet. After our traditional morning greeting in Spanish, Caimin had us go to Argentina en avión. Upon our return, we settled into this Spanish speaking country and gathered in a círculo. Next, we read the Spanish version of Herve Tullet’s book, Preciona Aquí. This entertaining book invited the Lechuzas and the Búhos to interact with yellow dots and watch the power of imagination. This book helped introduce new vocabulary words as well as reinforce familiar ones such as numbers and the primary colors, amarillo, rojo y azul.
ready - listo
press – presiona
turn - vuelta
rub - frota
left – izquierda
right – derecha
softly – suavemente
fast – rápido
shake – agitar
lean – inclina
applause – aplaude
We finished our class with our traditional song, Adios, hasta luego, and Caimin squeezing la vaca. ¡Gracias, Caimin!
¡Hasta nuestro proximo viaje! (Until our next flight.)
Paz,
Alicia
