Our day started off with a lovely visit from Gwen, our Lower School Librarian. She read us "Bark, George" by Jules Feiffer, which is a silly story about a puppy who is trying to speak, but can only say other animal sounds. It quickly became a class favorite.
We also got to spend the morning with Lalasa, Penny's mom, who is very creative and helped us get started on painting our shirts for the fall festival! The shirts were painted using handprints to represent Owl feathers. We will be continuing the shirt painting over the next few days, with visits from a few different family helpers. Thank you in advance for everything!
Crissy stopped by for some owl feathers on her shirt, too! |
We have still been interested in writing letters, and everyday our word bank is increasing because of the different messages that friends want to write. It is wonderful to see them so excited about writing! Today we worked hard on sounding out the words that we were trying to spell, carefully breaking apart the words and listening to the sounds. Some of the words, like Daphne and Grandmom, were very difficult, but we've been powering through them!
We went outside to explore the meadow, the creek, and even visited old Early Childhood building. We met up with the Catbirds there to share a nostalgic playtime.
