Welcome to our world of discovery and learning!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

Outfitting Ninjas and Gifts from Marty

After enjoying a nice long weekend, the Owls returned in full force! A few friends went back to playing a classroom favorite, ninjas, and it was soon realized that to truly be ninjas, they had to look the part as well as act it. We gathered together materials, and created some stealthy yet stylish ninja masks and outfits.

You also may have noticed that last Thursday, after careful contemplation, there was a furniture move in the dramatic play area. It was clear that since so many great things were happening in that part of our classroom, more space should be made to help encourage the exploration and excitement. So today we had a talk about how we play in our newly renovated area. We also came up with the brilliant idea of trying to build a cozy box as part of our dramatic play area, so when we went outside, we talked with Marty and the other contractors that have been working on building our outdoor play structure. They generously donated some pieces of cedar board (which smelled wonderful!) and we got to watch them cut the wood down to size.

"It smells like apple pie!"
And we enjoyed ourselves playing on the big kid playground!
