Welcome to our world of discovery and learning!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

To Start the Storyline

This morning we decided to hash out some of the details of the play. We reminded each Owl which characters they chose for themselves and made individual cards for each character. Friends then naturally divided each character into a "good" side and a "bad" side. We then set to work writing the beginning of the story! We introduced characters and setting into the narrative, and even came up with roles for teachers. The Owls were so excited to see this come to life even more!
For one of the morning choices, we set out foam letters, glue, and paper. This prompted friends to come over and attempt to spell out whole words! Some examples of words that were formed were their names,"Dad", and some Owls experimented with putting random letters together to see what they make. Did you know that the word "puzo" is a word? According to Elise it is!

Other Owlings:
Making a Plane
2nd Graders came out on the playground to play with us!
Playing Basketball with big kids
Being flushed down the playground "toilet" aka racing around in circles!
Figuring out how to sled in the Spring
Trying to work together to break off a snapped, but still attached branch
Flying around with Alicia in Spanish
