Welcome to our world of discovery and learning!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

Old McDonald Had An Owl

This morning Kristin and the Owls put their noses to the grindstone, or should we say the sewstone (yes? maybe? no? ehhhhh?) today. In preparation for the show, we have been working diligently to make sure that each facet of the play is seeing progress. Now many of the Owls have the basis for their costume done and are ready to add the details to bring their outfits to life!
This morning we also had another music candidate visit our school. We sang Old McDonald with her using a mystery bag, pulling out surprise animals to sing. She even pulled out the Philly Phanatic to join in for part of the song! We also did an activity where we got to try out most of the instruments in the music room. The candidate orchestrated the process of how the flowers grow through music, having rain start to fall (with rhythm shakers producing rain sounds), thunder growling to initiate a full storm (with drums producing thunder sounds), having rays of sun come out (with glockenspiels producing pleasant sounds for the rays of sun), all culminating in having seeds grow (with children moving with scarves to show the flowers rise).
