Welcome to our world of discovery and learning!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

Rules: Paint with Fingers/Avoid the Bushes/Enjoy Music with Friends!

Sam, the Lower School Art Teacher, visited us today! She talked with us about different tools used in art, with the most simple (and most important!) being our fingers. Using our fingers as art tool, we spent the morning finger painting. We were also told the story of black and white, which were the only colors that we used today.
Discussing which paper is best for finger painting...
...Is it the rough kind?...
...no, the smooth kind!
We also had Owl gardeners inputting block vegetation in our classroom. Platform blocks were imagined as bushes and other types of plants, which friends had to jump over. While jumping, the goal was to avoid touching the blocks because on the blocks, poison ivy was growing!
Secret routes through the bushes!

We also played music in the shared space in the hall with the Catbirds!
