Did you know that owl nests can double as amazing locations for forts? That's what we discovered today in the Owl room! Some friends had pulled chairs around to make a circle in our book area of the room, and a group gathered together and noticed that this circle would be a wonderful base for a fort. Our green blanket was tested as the top, and it was clear that we would need material with a larger surface area. We brought out white sheets that did the job perfectly! But how would the sheet stay attached to the chairs on which it rested? This problem was easily solved by Owl sleuths, who used clothes pins as clips to secure the sheet. After a few attempts and a lot of cooperation, the fort was finished, functional and comfortable!
A few clothespins had repeatedly been pulled off, so friends helped Mike move away the chairs and come up with a new fort plan--attach the sheets to the ceiling! Mike was told where to place the sheets by our Owl architects, and he used a big ladder to reach the sheets up to our ceiling. This created a new setting to encourage different types of play.
