Welcome to our world of discovery and learning!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

Our First Day of School!

The Owls are already so busy! We started off the day with Journals, and we were so glad to see many families joining their children in this great literacy activity! We learned the Owl song, which was already familiar to some:

Everywhere we go,
People want to know,
Who we are,
So we tell them:
We are the Owls!
The Mighty Mighty Owls!
We are the Owls!
The Mighty Might Owls!

We sang this song on a tour of the Lower School, meeting many people along the way. We are also developing an impressive array of hooting vocabulary!

In the classroom, the Owls are meeting new friends, and making all kinds of discoveries throughout the classroom. Here is a glimpse of our activities:

We headed out to our new play yard to explore.
Our new little creek was so exciting!

Debbie Green said that our Building area was missing something: big sticks and logs. Luckily, the Owls were ready to help! We set out on a campus walk to look for sticks!

We met Nancy on our walk and sang her our song. She loved it!

We brought them back to the Building Area, and The children got right to work!

We finished our morning by reading stories with Kristin. What a fantastic and busy day!
