Welcome to our world of discovery and learning!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

Exploring Inside and Outside!

The Owls have been discovering so much in the classroom and outside. The Writing and Art Centers were busy, as we worked on collaging our Owl sign. The Owls were also developing their fine motor coordination stamping, hole punching and drawing.

The Owls are turning into all kinds of animals, complete with Animal keepers who protect the other children when the animals get a little wild. Check out our bulletin board where we are starting to track our emergent curriculum.

Outside, the Owls were ready to get to work in the Building area. Tori figured out the the stick with a fork in it could be used to prop other sticks up. Penny, Jamell and Patrick joined in to try to make a "house." When the house fell down, they decided to switch to rock houses. We are also tracking this exploration on our Emergent Curriculum Planning Flow.

Other explorations included picking blue berries, damming the stream, jumping logs, jumping benches, lifting logs with the big kids, and digging.

Finishing the morning with a story in the Outdoor Classroom. Kristin read, "Lady Bug Girl and Bumble Bee Girl."
