Welcome to our world of discovery and learning!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

Let's Lego!

If you haven't noticed, we have been trying to allow the Owls to experience new tools and experiment with more challenging materials in our classroom (funny, it's like we're a school or something! hyuck hyuck). Today's new materials were legos. Legos are small plastic blocks that connect together via raised circles. These tiny toys are on the outer edge of what some of our Owls are capable of, but they are also amazingly engrossing.
Legos offer practice with a variety of skills including fine motor, spacial relationships, problem solving, engineering and mathematics. One of the beauties of lego-playing is that as children get older, the possibilities of building and learning continue to be endless.
We also introduced a new game to the room, but indeed a classic: Tic Tac Toe! This game also covers basic math concepts, and offers an intimate and enjoyable play experience for the participants.
This morning we visited Gwen, who read us the true story of a mini miniature horse named Einstein, who looks for friends and finally finds one in a playful dog. We also got new books and puppets for our classroom, which is always exciting.

Other Owlings:
