"Des is spring!"

As Kevin wrote in his journal this morning, this is spring! The Owls are so excited to be out and about, discovering all the signs of spring. It seems like every time we turn around, a new bush is budding, a new flower has bloomed, or a new insect has emerged. We have had lots of discussions about the taxonomy of insects, as many children have been very worried about the dreaded bees. We have talked about carpenter bees (who can't see and only eat wood) and honey bees (who help pollinate our flowers and trees) and about how bees won't bother us if we don't bother them.
